The CANTO Bench by Luiz Solano expands the logic of the series into a generous, linear seat. Composed entirely of brushed and anodized aluminum — angle profile and sheet of the same thickness — it emphasizes absence as much as form. The frame is welded; the seat is bolted onto it, almost floating.With its reflective surface and strict geometry, the bench creates a compelling tension between lightness and solidity. Four rubber pads discreetly protect the floor and lift the piece ever so slightly, reinforcing its sculptural quality.Though designed as a bench, it can also function beautifully as a low console or display surface in residential or gallery settings.---CANTO SeriesThe CANTO series is made from anodized, brushed aluminum angles and sheets, both in matching thicknesses. Seats and backrests are bolted onto a welded frame, resulting in a structure that appears, paradoxically, both assertive and ethereal.This design seeks to subtract material in order to reveal form. The angled profile draws itself through absence — a negative space, a void column. The reflective quality of the aluminum sheets for seat and backrest renders them visually detached from the structure, as if suspended.In contrast to this apparent instability and the rawness of exposed cuts, the CANTO pieces offer surprising comfort. The aluminum backrest flexes slightly under pressure, and rubber disks isolate the metal frame from the floor, softening contact and enhancing stability.
