Bench for Casa Batllo, designed after a model by Antoni Gaudi. Manufactured in Barcelona by BD. Sculpted solid varnished oak. Antoni Gaudi´ (1852-1926) was a Spanish Catalan architect from Reus and the best known practitioner of Catalan Modernism. Gaudi´'s works reflect an individualized and distinctive style. Most are located in Barcelona, including his magnum opus, the Sagrada Familia. Gaudi´'s work was influenced by his passions in life: architecture, nature, and religion. [3] Gaudi´ considered every detail of his creations and integrated into his architecture such crafts as ceramics, stained glass, wrought ironwork forging and carpentry. He also introduced new techniques in the treatment of materials, such as trencadi´s which used waste ceramic pieces. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
