A fine Sheraton bench, a striking piece crafted circa 1815 in the American Fancy taste; faux grained in rosewood with elaborate stencil detail in gilt. A turned crest tail gently rolls and is punctuated by stenciled centerblocks, while the two-part center splat incorporates sophisticated fretwork detail outlined in gilt. Splayed arms terminate in a neoclassical scroll resting upon gilt spheres. The curved rush seat with decorated corner blocks is perfectly outlined in a stenciled apron over three turned legs connected by turned stretchers accented in gilt. From historic to contemporary, a wonderfully warm piece full of character and well-suited for any interior. Ideally sized for use in a hall, bedroom, or cozy nook.
