The carved facets of this oak bench catch the light in all sorts of surprising ways as you move around it. Inspired by the boulders under the cliffs of Hastings, on the south coast of the UK, where James the maker lives. The rock-like shapes were carved into the solid chunky oak of these slabs with chisels and hand planes to create a playfully cartoonish bench.Large hand cut mortise and tenon joints feature on the seat of this bench showing how the legs are joined to the seat at differing angles. This bench is constructed from beautiful solid oak and has a hand planed finish which brings the surfaces to life, it is finished with oil.About the maker:Furniture designed and crafted by James Torble, Loose Fit Furniture, in East Sussex.
