Fantastic period scroll iron upholstered bench in the California Spanish Revival tradition, very well crafted with wonderful detail in its form. We date the iron base to the Arts and Crafts Mission era, circa 1910s-20s. The base is in all original condition, completely sound and sturdy. The bench seat was reupholstered at some point in the past in a leopard or cheetah cat spot cotton canvas weight fabric. Though the upholstery fabric is in excellent condition, you have the opportunity to refresh this piece with any fabric you might desire. The seat readily removes from the base simply by removing several mounting screws. If reupholstered with an outdoor fabric, would be suitable for use on a protected patio area. We also see the possibilities of changing the top out to either a solid wood slab or tile top in the tradition of Catalina or Taylor pieces from the 1920s-40s to create a drinks side table or petite coffee table. Measurements for iron base only: 26" W x 13.5"D x 14.75"T
