Circa 1690-1720 hand-carved oak settle from England. This piece is a wonderful example of period William and Mary English craftsmanship. The back of the settle is hand paneled and each panel is hand carved in gorgeous geometric and floral patterns, surrounded by hand carved decorated framing. The arms measure 26.5 inches in height and are over a seat, which measures 18.75 inches in height. The seat raises to reveal storage, and the base is made up from panels, which are simple on the sides and hand carved decorated on the front. The piece is supported on simple feet in the back for easy placement against a wall and turned feet in the front for added design detail. Fabulous piece! Even the back panels are gorgeous!
