A Louis XV style window seat or dressing table seat, probably 30’s-40’s, with a caned seat and sides and elegantly carved cabriole legs ending in scrolled feet, the entire frame decorated on all sides with shell and vine gilt carving, as well as each knee, the entire piece with gilt edging. The frame has recently been repainted and gilt refreshed. Layers of old paint are visible in certain areas. A couple of tiny breaks to caning are on the side edges but are barely visible and don’t effect the integrity of the bench. A new removable cotton leopard padded cushion has been added for extra presence. Quite a striking little bench.
