This is an extraordinary bench with some unusual features. The top rail is boldly scalloped, rising in art nouveau style waves to a curved crest in the center. The bottom rail below is straight and together they frame two flat panels with a window in between, housing two plain vertical slats. The arms are scrolled as is common, joined by a horizontal baluster and scalloped splat. The legs are bowed in the classical manner. The two board seat is broad and sturdy, supported on all four sides by plain aprons. The bench is made from nice clear pine with a good even color and only a few small knots.
