Our beam bench utilizes urban, local pine logs for a solid volume bench for indoors or outdoors. Narrow and backless, the simple lines express the graphic texture of the end grain of each log. The 15" x 15" beam is milled and finished to sit on a Corten steel base that is mortised into the bottom of the beam. The beam bench brings tactile beauty at a variety of lengths. Unique wood grain elements, including knots and variation, is part of the intriguing nature of these pieces. The finish is shou sugi ban, a Japanese process of blackening, wire-brushing and oiling cedar. A tradition we updated adding a low sheen, urethane for extra protection and seal to our local, materials.Covered outdoor patio or deck is preferable to complete exposure to the elements.
