She also explores the poetry that lies in the slightimbalance and irregularities provided by the human eye and gesture.As a trained cabinet-maker, Albane works primarily with wood andbuilds herself each of her designs. She favors asymmetrical shapes thatresult from freehand drawings and avoids using jigs and gauges.Albane Salmon also likes to retort to contrasting textures, colors andtreatments that both highlight and alter the qualities of wood and actlike a trompe l’oeil. The viewers are led to question their senses and towonder about the nature and the unity of the material used.Besides creating one of a kind and small series of objects and furniture,Albane Salmon works on commissioned projects such as custom solidwood furniture and installations.
