Cahiers d'Art Revue, No. 1, 2012: Ellsworth Kelly (2012) Paperback Released in October 2012, the first new issue of Cahiers d’Art to be published since 1960. Faithful to the spirit of the original revue, the first issue contains an extensive article of 70 pages dedicated to a defining artist, Ellsworth Kelly. Includes a gorgeous, frameable lithograph (in deep red) by Ellsworth Kelly on heavy paper stock (see photo). It includes texts by Yve-Alain Bois, Ann Hindry, Richard F. Townsend, an homage to the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer by Japanese architect Tadao Ando and the republication of a conversation between Christian Zervos and Pablo Picasso, originally published in issue n° 7-10, 1935. Founded in 1926 by Christian Zervos, Cahiers d’Art refers at once to a publishing house, a gallery, and to a revue located at 14 rue du Dragon in the heart of Saint-Germain des-Prés. Cahiers d’Art was entirely unique: a journal of contemporary art defined by its combination of striking typography and layout, abundant photography, and juxtaposition of ancient and modern art, including original works by Picasso, Miró, Giacometti, Duchamp, and Man Ray, where writers like Paul Éluard, Ernest Hemingway, and Samuel Beckett… The new Cahiers d’Art preserves the spirit, the graphics, and the eclecticism of Zervos' time. It presents contemporary artists such as Ellsworth Kelly, Rosemarie Trockel, Ai Weiwei, Arthur Jafa and Christo and some of Zervos’ favorite artists, among other Picasso, Miró and Calder. Cahiers d’Art works directly with the artists or their estates.
