The Brazilian modern design book extensively classifies the work of 15 of the most representative Brazilian furniture designers in the modern period, between the 1940s and 1970s, including: Joaquim Tenreiro, Jose Zanine Caldas, Sergio Rodrigues, Lina Bo Bardi and Jorge Zalszupin. Their works are presented in detail over 484 pages in an extensive sampling that allows us to perceive details of creative thinking and the variations of constructive and aesthetic solution employed by each of the designers approached. The text signed by Professor Maria Cecilia Loschiavo, author of a relevant academic bibliographical work on the subject, originally dated 1995 and reprinted by Olhares, in partnership with her colleague Tatiana Sakurai reviews the elements of the genesis of modern Brazilian design and weaves an analysis that leads its origins to its current context of dialogue with art and international appreciation. In addition, there are also biographical profiles of each of the lead designers and two extra chapters, one on architects' contributions to modern furniture design and the final chapter on other important fabrications, making clear the extent of production in the period.Text and descriptions in Portuguese and English.Description:ISBN: 978-85-62114-75-5Publisher: OlharesOrganization: Alberto Vicente e Marcelo VasconcellosIntroduction: Jones Bergamin, Jennifer Roberts, Walton Hoffmann e Marcelo FerrazText: Maria Cecília Loschiavo dos Santos e Tatiana SakuraiNumber of pages: 484Size: 25 x 30 cm - 9.8 x 11.8 inHardcover.
