Background: La Cometa Gallery was founded in 1935, until 1938, by the Italian poet Libero de Libero and the Countess Pecci-Blunt. An internationl world in Rome, in which artists and intellectuals like Afro, Mirko, Cagli Mafai, Guttuso and Capogrossi, Severini, Martini, Janni, Melli, Ziveri, Savinio graviteted. At the same time the Countess, best-known as ''Mimì'', organised literary presentations by writers like Cecchi, Moravia, Montale, lectures by Valéry and Mauriac; music night by Stravinskij, Petrassi, Milhaud, Honegger, Poulenc, Auric. During the summer, cosmopolitan worldliness were held at the grand villa of Marlia. Paul Valéry (Sète, 1871 - Paris, 1945) The French writer, poet and philosopher, Paul Valery, wrote these letters during years of increasingly important positions: he is on the museum council, at the university center of Nice, on the commission for cultural cooperation for the 1936 universal exhibition; in 1937, a professorship ( ''poetic'' chair at the Collège de France) was created especially for him. Finally, in 1939 he became honorary president of SACEM. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
