This is a highly decorative and stylish Chinese red painted bureau bookcase decorated overall with gilt chinoiseries. The top section contains a broken arched pediment over two conforming doors. The bottom section contains a drop-front writing surface above three long drawers and supported by shaped block feet, 20th century.
