Antique pine bookcases are hard to find so the shell of this piece was provided by a vintage pine armoire. With one board width removed from the sides and the original backboards and crown molding retained, with the drawer reduced in depth, and, in this case, with the original doors reduced to one panel in height, we get a bookcase which, though not an original antique, has all the characteristics of an old pine piece. Each one is unique. The front corners of this case bear a reeded molding topped with an acanthus leaf corbel. It was made from beautiful wood with a great color. With two shelves providing three generous spaces for books or other display.
