The piece retains its original wrought iron hardware throughout, including hand-forged escutcheons, drop-ring pulls, and a decorative strap hinge at the door edge, all with the dark, pitted patina of true age. The two frieze drawers are dovetailed and open to reveal beautifully aged secondary wood, worn smooth and darkened over two centuries of daily use, along with an old paper shelf-liner fragment and chalk marks that speak to its working history in a French farmhouse or provincial home. Inside, the cabinet is fitted with a single fixed shelf, dividing the interior into two generous storage compartments, ideal for linens, serving pieces, or bar storage. Cabinet door construction includes a working lock (not original) with key, and interior latch on non-locking door.
