An exceptional provincial Buffet à deux corps cabinet from Belgium, dating from the late 18th century. Crafted from solid oak. Ready for use with a sanded, bleached finish. A two-part, moulded oak body with coffered sides and bevelled corners. The base unit features two doors in frame construction with gently curved panels at the top edge, and two solid drawers. Above this sits the display cabinet section with two glazed doors featuring green panes. The top is finished with a widely projecting, multi-moulded cornice featuring an arch and a centrally positioned cartouche carved with rocaille and floral motifs. All doors are hung on external brass hinges. Inside, the cabinet is fitted with one shelf in the lower section and two shelves in the upper section. Dimensions Height: 242 cm  /  95.28 in. Width: 175 cm or 201 cm (including top moulding)  /  68.90 in or 79.13 in (including top moulding). Depth: 40 cm or 54 cm  /  15.75 in or 21.26 in. Internal drawer dimensions: 11 cm high, 54.5 cm wide, 28 cm or 31.5 cm deep  /  4.33 in high, 21.46 in wide, 11.02 in or 12.40 in deep. Shelf depth: 27 cm or 30.5 cm  /  10.63 in or 12.01 in. In good condition with slight age-related signs of wear, including old woodworm tunnels (not active!) and visible repairs. The surface has been stripped of its dark finish, carefully sanded and bleached, revealing the natural texture of the unsealed old oak in a light, matt finish. The cabinet can be transported in two parts (upper section/lower section). Furthermore, the shelves can be removed and the doors unhinged.
