This piece of furniture, made in Paris, opens in the waist with a large drawer in burr amboyna underlined by a grooved rod and a rosewood strip. The drawer is fitted with an original lock with a later key and a foliage-decorated entry motif. The maple flecked interior is compartmentalized and features drawer blocks to protect against accidental falls. The lower section features a double door in ambony veneer, with central panels, also highlighted by a rosewood band, molded baguettes and rosettes. The door is fitted with an original, functional top and bottom lock with key and escutcheon. The interior features three maple flecked English-style drawers with rosewood fronts. The plinth also conceals a final drawer. The uprights feature turned, ringed and fluted columns with acanthus leaf motifs. The carrara marble is semi-recessed, with raised edges. The frame, parquet under marble and back are in oak.
