French Empire Bronze Dore Candelabrum featuring a cast gilded flame encircled by five arms ending in gilded sconces below which are gilded wax drip pans. The finial and arms are supported on an elegant black column with gilded floral motifs and acanthus leaves. The triform Malachite base is embellished with decorative elements such as gilded leaves and curlicues. The Candelabrum has been electrified for modern use. However the actual plug on the cord is missing. The quality of the Candelabrum's lines, details, and overall tall elegance, reflect the emphasis on high style that defined the French Empire period of the early nineteenth century. It was likely made by a specialist in period decorative arts and lighting. It is very reminiscent of works by . -- the renowned Empire designer Thornier. The piece is very heavy. Dimensions.
