Contemporary Tamagroute Earth Candlestick – Morocco. Tamegroute is a small Moroccan village simply known for it’s rich traditional ceramics. The clay is cut by hand from the banks of the River Draa, moulded by hand, not wheel turned, and then left to dry in the sun. The clay is then washed by hand with local glazes and baked in one of a handful of communal ovens. The pottery is a labour of love that has sustained a village for centuries. The unique colours are a result of the brick firing and the varying temperatures and ash that circulate in the kiln. Made especially for Merchant & Found. Sustainable craft, respecting tradition.
