Antique Early 19th Century American Canopy Bed

Chairish

$425

Antique early 19th century American canopy bed made of maple and pine. The headboard and the side rails are pine the rest is maple. The side rails were replaced in recent years to extend the length of the bed. In doing this this bed will now fit a regular full size box spring and mattress! Actually because the rails arent as thick as the original rails the inside measurement is a little more than full size but not queen size. Full is 54" wide and the opening here is 58". The length is 76" and maybe a tiny bit more and a full size mattress is 75" long. At some point some one added a middle rail. You can see where this went in the photos. I think they did this to try and put a sheet of plywood on top of the rails then just a mattress. Not a great idea in my opinion. I do not have the middle rail. Bed was refinished at some point and as you can see in the photos the finish particularly on the foot posts has turned color and is flaking a bit. The foot posts should be refinished. Bed stands 84" tall and is 62" wide overall and 83 1/2" long overall. Inside the rails as I stated measures 58" by 76". Nicely turned posts
