The ph snöboll ceiling lamp, more often called snowball, is a modern and at the same time timeless ceiling lamp from louis poulsen that was designed in 1958 by poul henningsen, denmark. the lamp has an oval, sculptural design, built up of several layers of shades that ensure a glare-free light distribution. The shades have different shapes and sizes, of which six are facing downwards and two upwards. Designed to cast soft shadows and provide symmetrical, uniform light distribution that is glare-free and diffused. Reinforced by the polished top surfaces and matt underside of the slats. when the lamp is switched on, the entire structure lights up and spreads a soft, pleasant light in the room. The shades are made of die-cast aluminium and are painted in a white colour, with a matt inside and a glossy outside. The luminaire housing is made of die-cast, high-gloss chrome-plated aluminium and the frame is made of cast, high-gloss chrome-plated aluminium. ph snöboll was first shown together with poul henningsen's iconic lamp ph 5 at the museum of fine arts in 1958, but it was actually not until 1983 before snöboll began to be produced for the market. 40 cm ø and 39 cm high. label marked. there are two scratches that are only visible on close inspection, see pictures. Otherwise in very good condition with very few signs of use and freshly grounded electricity carried out by an electrician. this piece has an attribution mark, i am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution, up to 250v (europe/uk standard).the wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
