Reissued Anvia Matte White "Flying Duke" Counterbalance Ceiling Lamp No. 2001

1st Dibs

$1,295

The Flying Duke — also known as the fishing rod lamp — is one of the most recognized designs from Dutch Mid-Century lighting. Designed by Jan Hoogervorst for ANVIA, the lamp features a long counterbalance arm suspended from a ceiling canopy via a slender vertical rod. A central gimbal mechanism, secured with knurled nuts, allows the arm to be raised, lowered, and locked in place. The tapered conical shade at one end can be repositioned independently, while the cylindrical counterweight at the opposite end maintains balance. The entire lamp is finished in matte white, with contrasting metal hardware at the pivot joints.Hoogervorst designed the Annual Collections for ANVIA from the early 1950s through the early 1980s, and the Flying Duke — based on his late 1950s and early 1960s original — became one of his most enduring designs. ANVIA began reissuing his most popular work in 2015, and this lamp is produced from that reissue program, faithful to the original's adjustable mechanics and clean geometric form.In good condition consistent with age and use. Three available, sold individually.
