Direct from England, a beautiful antique English Victorian tilt top table, or ‘breakfast table’ as the British say, because of its dual nature. In 18th and 19th century homes, the tilt top saved space in the room when not in use, and when ready for breakfast or tea, the tabletop was easily lowered into position. In today’s home these extremely versatile tables are sought after for many uses, from wine tables to breakfast tables, center tables and serving tables when entertaining. The table features a gorgeous burl walnut top with stunning book-matched burl walnut grain. Along the beveled edge of the oval top, a beautiful inlaid floral and foliate motif completes the elegant design. The top rests on four English turned baluster posts above a beautifully turned central column, surmounted by a large turned finial with a smaller finial below. The column transitions into ornately hand carved legs and feet with original brass casters. Exceptional construction and artistry by craftsmen of the period, circa1890.
