Aqua Fossil Center Table II in Alabaster by Amarist StudioOne Of A KindDimensions: D 77 x W 125 x H 48 cm. Materials: Alabaster. The Aqua Fossil Centre Table by Amarist Studio presents alabaster as a sculptural landscape shaped by water and time. Conceived as a fluid, organic form, the table transforms a traditionally solid material into an object that appears eroded, softened, and molded by movement. Inspired by the geological origins of Iberian alabaster formed after the evaporation of an ancient sea4the piece reveals the stone as a fossilized trace of water. Its translucent surface and carved volumes evoke a terrain suspended between solidity and liquidity, where matter retains the memory of its aqueous past.By reinterpreting alabaster as a malleable, almost plastic material, Amarist Studio challenges conventional approaches to stone carving. The centre table becomes both functional object and sculptural relic: a fragment of an ancient seabed reimagined through a contemporary lens.Based in the Pyrenees, Amarist Studio works from a context closely connected to stone, territory, and slow natural dynamics. This environment informs the studio’s sensitivity toward equilibrium, transformation, and the passage of time.Amarist’s works—including sculptures, mirrors, lighting pieces, and tables—are conceived as functional objects with a strong sculptural presence. Beyond their formal qualities, they propose a reflection on environmental transformation and on the fragile balance between matter, memory, and time.
