Large Art Deco squirrel drageoir was designed by Antoinette de Ribes (1892-1972) for Gallia in 1931 with beautiful stylized lines. This is the original edition, very rare, marked underneath with "O.GALLIA" and the number of the model 5989. Christofle is one of the most famous silversmiths, founded in Paris in 1830 and became very quickly the most world well known as Napoleon III ordered for Tuileries Palace in 1851 a set for 100 guests including magnificent silver-plated centerpiece to be discovered in Paris Museum of Decorative Arts (permanent exhibition), other pieces can be seen at Metropolitan Museum. Christofle collaborated with many artists and designers, such as Fjerdingstad, Süe & Mare, Sandoz or Antoinette de Ribes.
