Mid-Century Ceramic Ikebana Centerpiece, 1950s

Chairish

$293

Elegant Japanese ikebana tray from the 1950s, formed in a rectangular modernist shape with gently rising walls and a subtly layered rim. Dimensions: height 7 cm, width 40 cm, depth 21 cm. The surface shows a fine texture that adds depth to the glaze. Finished in a rich turquoise glaze with nuanced tonal variation and a lively, almost iridescent look. Made at the Ken’yō kiln (研窯) and bearing an impressed Kikuyama seal on the underside. The piece is in very good condition. A beautiful traditional vessel for ikebana, and just as suitable today as a decorative yet functional centerpiece—use it as a fruit tray, nut dish, or refined vide-poche. A unique mid-century object that radiates authenticity and elegance. This piece has an attribution mark, I am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
