This authentic period American 7 spindle bow (or hoop) back Windsor side chair boasts a very early repaint in brown over the original mustard yellow. Only a small amount of the yellow remains, peaking out from under the brown on the heavily worn seat. The brown paint has developed a wonderful alligatored and crazed surface. I make no claims of being a wood expert, but I believe at least the hoop is hickory. Carved details in hoop and seat. The bamboo turned legs remain their original, full length - not cut down. 1 board hand planed seat.
