Italian neoclassical caned side chair. Both the seat and the back are caned and the back features an oval centered medallion that is painted with cherubs. The chair has hand painting around the back, seat and legs with floral and leaf motif. The seat cushion has protected the cane on the seat. However, the cane on the back had become brittle from exposure so has been replaced. Black disc feet swivel on the legs. Later reproduced in the 20th century by the Italian firm Galimberti Lino.
