Early 19th century American fan back Windsor chair made from walnu. There are traces of original gold paint on the comb back, which are pictured. The comb has lovely simple spindles, flanked by hand turned larger spindles on the sides. The spindles are connected to a shield shaped seat, which is indicative of this style of Windsor chair. The chair is supported on lovely turned and splayed legs, joined by stretchers for stability and strength. The chair is stamped underneath A. Coeser.
