A very fine and rare set of matching French Louis XVI parlor side chairs with caned seats and gilded metal accents and rosettes resting atop delicate fluted legs. Dating approximately from mid-19th century, though the exact date of creation is unknown. Retaining the original label on the seat frames, which reads: “Grande Fabrique D’Amueblements Couvet Fres N. G. 41 RUE Crozatier Paris” These chairs are typical of the type of parlor chair found in upper class Paris residences during the Gilded Age in France. Quite rare to find two matching chairs in such good condition with caning intact.
