This comfortable carved chair was crafted in Spain circa 1860. Built in oak and beech wood, the chair sits on round turned legs and features an intricate back rest with floral and foliage decor; it is further embellished with round finials at the top. The wide and deep seat is upholstered with the original hand woven rush. The Spanish colonial armchair is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich patinated and rubbed painted finish in a white and red color palette. The versatile and sturdy low Catalan "chauffeuse" chair is meant to be placed close to the fire place to stay warm, but could also be used for occasional seating.
