Rare antique William & Mary tall back banister carved and ebonized ash and beech wood open chair, with a pierced cresting over three carved scrolling back splats flanked by block and turned stiles with urn-shaped finials, the seat was re-upholstered in 1972 (see picture of tag on bottom of seat), serpentine S-curved legs ending in scrolled feet, joined by ring-turned stretchers. English or Dutch c.1690 ?? I have taken this description from an almost exact looking chair I found online. Fabric is slightly pulling away at the front middle - needs to be re-tacked. The seat should be re-upholstered with a proper antique silk fabric. Slightly "lumpy" to sit on.
