Gaulinetta natural chair by Oscar TusquetsDimensions: D40 x W52 x H 83 cm.Materials: ash woodThe Gaulino chair was designed in 1987. BD re-edited it, improving it in 2010. It’s probably one of the best designs by Oscar Tusquets. Even though its appearance is totally artesanal, it was his first real wooden industrial project, taking into consideration the sizes of the machines, so that they could make the turns that model the legs. The result is the image of a hand carved, slender sculpture. Some critic tried to see in it the admiration for the author Salvador Dalí, however, when Tusquets saw it finished, his thoughts were that the evident influences came from Antoni Gaudí, the most universal Catalonian architect, and from Carlo Mollino, a great Italian designer from the 50’s. That’s why he called the chair, Gaulino.BD introduced it back in 2016 to offer other uses than accompanying a table. Now it is presented in a limited edition, hand painted by its author and is part of the Art Editions catalogue. This is not the first time that Tusquets has personalised a seat for this collection. Several years ago, he painted 20 unique pieces. This is proof of authorship and are already part of private collections. In 1972, a group of young architects and designers from Barcelona created BD with the aim of producing and marketing furniture and other objects for our projects, with complete creative freedom and with a criterion that has turned out to be quite different from the norm at companies in the sector, regarding both the shape and function.
