A striking mid-century Savonarola or curule chair in the style of Maison Jansen, circa 1960s–1970s. The chair features a sculptural steel frame with brass ball finials, brass details and feet, combined with a dark brown leather sling seat, backrest and arm straps. The form recalls the neoclassical campaign-inspired furniture associated with Maison Jansen, while the mix of polished metal, brass and leather gives the piece a highly decorative Hollywood Regency character. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history.
