This elegant pair of Hollywood/ Art Deco side chairs were realized by the illustrious 20th Century design firm, Grosfeld House- where luminaries such as Lorin Jackson refined their practice- in the United States, circa 1940. They feature tufted button backs and seats with scroll form arms and splayed legs in ebonized walnut. The back stiles and apron are also executed in ebonized walnut, which provides a striking tonal counterpoint to the textural dove gray fabric that upholsters the chairs. With their classically inspired, yet forward looking design, these chairs would be a winning addition to any style of interior from traditional to contemporary. They have been newly reupholstered and are in mint restored condition. American, circa 1940
