Intricate tapestry gothic revival chair with detailed carvings throughout the piece. Tapestry colors of greens, blues and soft reds in leaf print embellished with brocade strand. The Gothic Revival was a conscious movement that began in England to revive Gothic forms, mostly in the second half of the 18th century and throughout the 19th century. Gothic architecture has a set of unique features that set it apart from all other styles. Most importantly, it is characterized by long pointed arches, flying exterior buttresses, stained-glass windows that were longer than before, ribbed vaults, and spires. In excellent condition for age, slight wear on corner and edges of brocade on back right and bottom... I believe a kitten was curious.
