A Louis XVI Cockfighting Chair, circa 1780-1800, with a bulbous seat and typical back, made to straddle with an armrest at the top, raised on stop-fluted tapering legs topped with carved rosettes in squares, traces of the original paint present. There is worming throughout, typical of antique European furniture--it does NOT affect the integrity of the chair. It is covered in a tiny herringbone cotton print--there is a small spot on the back of the seat and another spot on the top left of the arm rest. Good condition for a chair that is over 200 years old. A survivor of the era of the Sun King.
