Model 1000 Chair By Walter Pabst For Wilkhahn, 1960s

Walter Pabst, a pioneer of post-war modern plastics, designed this modern, ergonomic fiberglass bench in 1961. He tested its enormous robustness in the bear enclosure of Cologne Zoo, hence the name "Bear Bench." The stackable garden furniture was as robust as it was lightweight, sitting like a white cloud in the landscape.
