A majestic mix and match Pair of 19th Century Paine Furniture Hand crafted and Carved William & Mary High Back Chairs. The chairs are in stable and very good condition for their age. The cane chair measures 19" in width, 20" in depth and stands 45.5" tall, with a seat height of 18.5". The velvet seat chair measures 18" in width, 16.5" in depth and stands 49.25" tall, with a seat height of 19" The company was founded in 1835 by Leonard Baker Shearer, who initially established a production and sales operation in a small rented space. John S. Paine joined the business in 1845 and the name was changed to Shearer & Paine in 1854. Upon Shearer’s death in 1864, the firm officially became Paine’s Furniture Company
