Each chair presents an open corner configuration framed entirely in bobbin-turned wood. Decorative spindles run across two sides of the backrest, supported by turned corner posts that continue down to turned legs connected by turned lower stretchers. The turned detailing is dense and consistent throughout the frame, characteristic of Dutch cottage furniture production of the period. Original rush seating covers the triangular seat surface in a traditional woven pattern.Bobbin turning as a furniture technique has roots in Northern European craft traditions, particularly prevalent in Dutch and Flemish vernacular furniture from the 17th century onward. The interwar period saw a continued regional production of turned-wood cottage furniture, maintaining handcraft methods alongside industrialized manufacturing. Stefanus Collé worked within this tradition, producing pieces rooted in Dutch domestic craft rather than contemporary modernist movements. The chairs show wear consistent with age and use. Two chairs available individually.
