Model 122 chair designed by Vico Magistretti for Cassina in 1967.This model features a solid walnut structure combined with a curved plywood body, with legs shaped in a semicylindrical section positioned externally to the seat frame, allowing the chairs to be stacked. The slightly concave backrest and molded plywood seat connect seamlessly with the vertical uprights, which rise with a subtle helical movement. The shaped backrest recalls a fork-like form, evoking flexibility and lightness while maintaining a strong architectural presence.The design reflects Magistretti’s rational and essential approach to furniture, where structure and form are clearly expressed. During his collaboration with Cassina, he created several important projects that became landmarks of Italian design, including the Carimate chair and the Maralunga sofa, confirming his central role in postwar modernism.The seat has been reupholstered in high-quality Italian brick aniline leather, carefully selected to respect the original character of the model while enhancing comfort and durability.This chair has been restored in Italy by our workshop, with each piece individually inspected and carefully serviced to ensure the highest possible standards of quality, comfort, and structural integrity.
