Fabulous multi-position chaise longue / daybed. Featuring a versatile hidden rachet hinge mechanism, the back adjusts to multiple angles ranging from horizontal to perpendicular. Sourced from an architect's estate, the chaise exhibits no maker's marks but thought to be a custom, to-the-trade piece. When set to the fully horizontal position to use as a daybed, it is perfect for a quick nap or add pillows across the back for extra seating. Raising the back to one of many angles, it becomes the ideal spot for reading, scrolling, or catching your favorite show. Equally at home in a living area, bedroom, study, library, or loft. The seating surface is box upholstered in a tufted and buttoned, taupe/sage tone-on-tone diamond woven fabric with matching cording. The cushion is in exellent condition with firm yet comfortable construction. The fabric covering is clean and without wear but has been sun bleached on one side (as shown). It exhibits a visible, but not unattractive, difference in shading. Usuable as-is or ready to reupholster in a fabric of your choosing to coordinate with your decor. The heavy wood frame is structurally excellent, being supported by 4 short, Asian style "chow legs" each fitted with a chrome caster for easy movement. The custom pecan finish, featuring a very subtle pecky cypress type texure and highlighted by applied umber fly-specking, is in very good vintage condition with minimal wear.
