Antique méridienne chaise. This beautiful chaise longue is a snug and comfortable place to read and relax. It has a high backrest at one end and one long arm along the back. It has a down filled cushion. The arm and back are deeply tufted and the top rail is rouged. Another rouged border circles the bottom of the frame. The fluted legs with brass tips are hidden behind yellow and green boullion fringe. Hard wood frame with hand tied springs in the seat, back rest and long arm. The green silk damask upholstery comes from England and was added about 25 years ago. Springs were retied and/or replaced at that time. Maker not known. No markings found. Probably made in France mid 19th C. The fabric was bought in England by previous owner. MEASURES 61" wide, 28" deep, x 30" height. Very good condition. The frame is solid. Fabric in good condition. No tears, rips, holes except for one hole in the cording along the back arm (see photo). No loose or open seams. Some sun fading. Cushion stained, as shown. Uneven fringe in spots, as seen.
