Late 20th Century Maitland Smith Empire Chandelier

Chairish

$3,800

Very rare piece from Maitland Smith. A mixture of antiqued brass, darkly painted metal and a pin shell bowl. This is truly a beautiful piece. I’m not quite sure what the pin shell bowl is made of. It appears to be resin. All pictures are of the actual light. The chandelier is held by two hooks and 26 1/2” of chain. The last photo with a white background, shows the chandelier with the full chain. All other pictures were taken with the chain removed and one hook in place. The chain itself cannot be shortened by means of removing links. You may lessen the chain length by allow the excess to hang next to it. The chain and hooks are unique to the chandelier. The fixture at its widest is around 22 inches. Hanging with one hook, the total height would be around 38 1/2 inches. If using the entire chain, the chandelier will hang around 65 inches from the ceiling. This is an older chandelier. With age, everything endures the stresses of life and will have imperfections. I’ve reviewed this fixture and found nothing out of the ordinary, that would affect its function, beauty, or value. But just note, you are buying a vintage fixture that may have what collectors would call patina.
