Mid-Century Modern Three-Light Opaline Glass Pendant Light, Italy, 1970s

Chairish

$17,918

A refined and architecturally striking 3-light modernist chandelier, dating to the 1970s. This medium-scale ceiling fixture perfectly embodies the sleek, geometric optimism of the Space Age era in Italian lighting design, offering a more compact but equally powerful visual presence compared to its 5-light counterpart. The chandelier features a robust, three-arm radial structure in polished chrome-plated metal, forming a clean triangular symmetry. Each arm supports a magnificent, oversized blown-glass globe crafted from triplex opaline glass (vetro incamiciato). The glass diffusers are characterized by a sophisticated, flattened ellipsoidal "doughnut" silhouette with a central bottom opening. This specific form allows for a beautiful duality of light: a soft, perfectly diffused ambient glow radiates through the milky-white body, while a direct downlight is cast below. with its planetary configuration and pristine material contrast, this pendant light serves as a dramatic centerpiece for mid-century and contemporary interiors. It is a quintessential representation of late 20th-century Muranese or northern Italian high-end lighting manufacturing (evoking the styles of Mazzega or Vistosi, Candle or Magistretti lighting). This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution, Up to 250V (Europe/UK Standard). The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
