An exceptionally decorative and theatrical Italian chandelier, beautifully crafted with an abundance of hand-carved and hand-painted wooden beads in a warm, time-softened palette of ochre, pale gold, and hints of terracotta. The fixture cascades in layered swags of beads, each strand original and wonderfully irregular, giving the piece that coveted Old-World texture and authenticity. The scrolling wrought-iron arms and frame retain traces of original parcel-gilt and aged patina, supporting eight candle-style lights with gilt bobeches. Generous tassel drops—carved and painted in muted coral and gold—punctuate the design throughout, adding movement and a distinctly Italianate flourish. One larger tassel finial anchors the bottom. The chandelier is newly rewired with drip wax candle covers and includes chain and canopy.
