Scandinavian Modern Teak & Glass Chandelier Attributed To Hans-Agne Jakobsson For Hans-Agne Jakobsson Ab Markaryd, Sweden, 1950s

Chairish

$3,004

A stunning Scandinavian chandelier by Swedish designer Hans-Agne Jakobsson. This exquisite piece features a solid teak body with six elegant brass arms, each supporting a beautifully molded glass shade. Complete with a brass rod and matching ceiling canopy, it exemplifies Jakobsson’s refined craftsmanship and timeless Scandinavian design. Swedish industrial designer Hans-Agne Jakobsson, born on the island of Gotland in 1919, began his career as a carpenter's apprentice in his teenage years. Following his pursuit of architecture studies, he joined General Motors as a designer. In 1951, he established Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in the quaint community of Markaryd. The factory is most renowned today for its mid-century lighting fixtures, though it also produced small furniture and various other interior design objects. The two ashtrays available for sale serve as remarkable examples of Jakobsson's talent in merging craftsmanship and industrial production to craft minimalistic and timeless objects. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution, European Plug (up to 250V).The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
