Chairish

$932

This is a charming Edwardian child€™s correction chair, made from bentwood with its hand turned uprights and a hand carved scallop design seat, this chair is in lovely condition, solid and sturdy with good patina. The makers mark Thonet is stamped on the underside. C1902 Michael Thonet (1796 – 1871) was born in Boppard am Rhein, Germany, and trained as a traditional cabinet maker. In the 1830s, as an alternative to the laborious technique of carving, he began bending wood to create furniture.
Correction or Deportment chairs designed in order to correct faulty posture in children, the design of the chair forces children to sit on it correctly. This lovely chair would make a great addition to any home. (Seat H: 56cm) This piece has an attribution mark, I am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
