Gerrit Rietveld (1888 - 1964) was a Dutch carpenter, architect and designer. He became known through his participation in the artist group De Stijl. Rietveld's "Red Blue Chair" from 1918 is considered one of the most famous design icons and is now represented in many design museums. Another milestone in design history is the “Crate Chair”. Gerrit Rietveld designed the unusual armchair in 1934 as an inexpensive alternative to expensive furniture during the economic crisis at the time. The chair was originally made from leftover wood from packing boxes and was offered inexpensively as a kit for self-assembly. Our copy is the toddler version, which was commissioned as a limited edition by the Rietveld Foundation in 2005. The corresponding label with the serial number is located under the seat. The armchair is in absolutely original condition. Black lacquered hardwood. The armchair has been used diligently and shows clear signs of use. All in all, it's in fair condition. Length 45cm. This piece has an attribution mark, I am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
